Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September of 1983 in Worthington, Ohio, USA is an American actor. She is famous for playing Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills as well in ABC's Lost television series. Born in Worthington Ohio she left high school and moved in Los Angeles with her mother after her parents divorce. She landed her debut role as Rachel's Room's main character in 2001, despite having a difficult time in the financial department. The actress was able to secure a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002, for her role as the 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder set in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford was the character Shannon Rutherford for Lost's first two seasons in 2004 and was awarded with her a Screen Actors Guild Award (with all the other actors) alongside her. Grace, who had worked alongside Tom Welling on The Fog in the year 2005, decided to make the move into the world of film. The following year, she starred on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and, opposite Liam Neeson's Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. A member of the Gyllenhaal clan, she is the daughter of film makers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs as well as the elder cousin of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. She began her career when she was a teenager, playing small roles in several of the films of her father and starred with her brother in the cult favorite Donnie Darko (2001). She then appeared in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal received praise from critics for her performances as the lead in Secretary (2002 an erotic romantic drama) as well as Sherrybaby (606) and Sherrybaby (606) of which garnered the actress Golden Globe Award nods. The Dark Knight, which was released in 2008, following several highly successful films including World Trade Center (2006) which brought her greater recognition, was a huge success for Gyllenhaal. For her performance as the single mother, in Crazy Heart (2009) she received a nomination for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She then appeared in dramas and comedies such as Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012 In addition to her role as a Secret Service agent, she was also seen as a character in White House Down (2013) as well as Frank (2014). One of her most recent roles include her character as the primary protagonist The Kindergarten Teacher The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal wrote and directed her debut film The Lost Daughter in 2021. The psychological drama won Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. It was also nominated to The Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
